Exhortation to Patience and Trust
Of David.
1 Do not fret because of the wicked;
do not be envious of wrongdoers,
2 for they will soon fade like the grass
and wither like the green herb.
3 Trust in the Lord and do good;
live in the land and enjoy security.
4 Take delight in the Lord,
and he will give you the desires of your heart.
5 Commit your way to the Lord;
trust in him, and he will act.
6 He will make your vindication shine like the light
and the justice of your cause like the noonday.
7 Be still before the Lord, and wait patiently for him;
do not fret over those who prosper in their way,
over those who carry out evil devices.
8 Refrain from anger and forsake wrath.
Do not fret—it leads only to evil.
9 For the wicked shall be cut off,
but those who wait for the Lord shall inherit the land.
Reflect
There are times in our lives when we feel as if evil is winning. We almost feel as if we are the ones being punished for doing what is good and right while evil gets what it wants. Discouragement sets in and we want to raise a white flag.
Brothers and Sisters, let us be encouraged in God’s Word today! King David writes, “Fret not yourself because of the wicked, be not envious of wrongdoers! For they will soon fade like the grass, and wither like the green herb.” Psalm 37:1-2. Evil never stands! It may look like it now, but evil will be destroyed in time! God knows your heart, and He always honors you in doing what is good and right!
King David also encourages us to trust in the LORD and we will enjoy security in Him! He tells us in Psalm 37:3-4, “Trust in the LORD, and do good; so you will dwell in the land, and enjoy security. Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.”
Trust means to “believe in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of.” (Oxford Languages). The LORD is reliable! We know that He is the promise keeper! The LORD is the truth! We know that God is truth, and He cannot lie! The LORD is able to do anything! We know that there is not anything or anyone that can stop Him! The LORD is our strength! We know that He is Almighty God, and He is the Sovereign One who cannot be defeated! By trusting in the LORD and doing good, we experience an immense joy in serving Him, desiring the things that He desires for our lives! All of a sudden, we are not fretting over evil because we know that the LORD is reliable, truth, able and strong! How good is our Awesome God?!

Amazing Father, we love You! Thank you for being who You are and for loving us! You encourage us in a world where evil is rampant! You give us a great hope that one day, all things will be made new! Evil will be destroyed forever! Thank you, Loving Father, for never giving up on us! In Jesus name, Amen!
