Reflect

Woo what a story of a child rebelling against his father?!  Absalom was full of not only rebellion, but he was also full of manipulation.  How deadly is that combination!

Absalom wanted to live by his own rules, his own ways and his eye was on the prize of stealing the throne from his father.  He did not care about how that would affect his father or anyone else for that matter.  He just wanted it his way.  Someone probably should have reminded him that it was not Burger King, but it was God’s King, and God will have it His way.

Now, if you study the Word, you will see that King David was not the father of the year, but he still was God’s chosen King, a man after God’s own heart!  Absalom should have known that he would not get far, but when you are full of rebellion and manipulation, you will do whatever it takes to get what you want, no matter the cost.  In Absalom’s case, he died trying to overtake his father’s throne in a freakish accident according to 2 Samuel 18.

Absalom’s rebellion and manipulation led to his death.  His way led him to a miserable life and a miserable death.  Brothers and Sisters, that is exactly what rebellion towards God will do as well as how low you will sink trying to manipulate situations and people to get your way.  You will be miserable! God does not want this for our lives!  God wants us to live in freedom, joy, and peace because we trust Him with His plans for our lives! God knows what is best for us!

Pray

“Heavenly Father, oh how we need You!  We need Your strength to overcome temptation as well as staying true to You!  We want You and Your way not our own way! We love You, Lord! Amen!”

Go with God!
