A Psalm.
1 O sing to the Lord a new song,
for he has done marvelous things.
His right hand and his holy arm
have gotten him victory.
2 The Lord has made known his victory;
he has revealed his vindication in the sight of the nations.
3 He has remembered his steadfast love and faithfulness
to the house of Israel.
All the ends of the earth have seen
the victory of our God.
4 Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth;
break forth into joyous song and sing praises.
5 Sing praises to the Lord with the lyre,
with the lyre and the sound of melody.
6 With trumpets and the sound of the horn
make a joyful noise before the King, the Lord.
7 Let the sea roar and all that fills it,
the world and those who live in it.
8 Let the floods clap their hands;
let the hills sing together for joy
9 at the presence of the Lord, for he is coming
to judge the earth.
He will judge the world with righteousness
and the peoples with equity.
Reflect
Shout for joy to the Lord! It’s amazing how much the Lord does for us, isn’t it? Do you ever sit and think about that? All God does? All the provision?
Sometimes I think that I’m really busy and that I have so much to do. In fact, it is easy for me to get overwhelmed with all I have to do. I have worked at the church, I have presbyterial responsibilities, I have things to do at the house, I have to help take care of my kids and our dog, we have softball practice or games 5 days a week, and I’m supposed to take a day of sabbath to rest from all of this.
I get overwhelmed just thinking about it. So much to do and so little time. I’m sure I won’t get to it all. But think how small my to-do list is compared to God’s list. I love verse three. In all that God does and keeps busy with, God still remembers “his love.” That’s you and me! How amazing is it that we are still remembered and loved! This is certainly a good reason to Shout for joy to the Lord!
Pray
Lord, hear our prayers as we shout for joy for all the things that you do. Thank you for all your provisions, the way you care for us, and that you even love us enough to take the time to build relationships with us. We are blessed and you are amazing. Amen.
