I don’t know about you but I like answers. That whole Escape Room craze that swept the nation really stressed me because I didn’t want to work that hard to escape a room that you really weren’t trapped in. I sometimes have the same approach to my relationship with God. I want answers, and I want them now. 

It would be easy for me, and others I guess, to read verse 4 which says “I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears.” and expect instant results. The truth is, we have no idea how long David, the writer of this Psalm,  had to seek the Lord before he got answers or how long it took before he was delivered from all of those fears. It could have been days, weeks, months, or even years. I would probably be asking God to speed it up. 

I imagine that David probably sought answers from the Lord for longer than a few days. I’m sure it was exhausting and maybe at times, he felt like giving up and letting his fears take over. Clearly, he didn’t do any of that. Instead, he continued to seek. Which I would assume was exhausting but also faith growing and beneficial for David’s overall relationship with God. 

Friend, I don’t know about you but today I am seeking lots of answers to tough questions. I would be thrilled if God would answer those now. However, I don’t think that will grow and shape my faith or yield good results. Let’s keep seeking!
