Faith and Wisdom
2 My brothers and sisters, whenever you face various trials, consider it all joy, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces endurance. 4 And let endurance complete its work, so that you may be complete and whole, lacking in nothing.
5 If any of you is lacking in wisdom, ask God, who gives to all generously and ungrudgingly, and it will be given you. 6 But ask in faith, never doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind. 7,8 For the doubter, being double-minded and unstable in every way, must not expect to receive anything from the Lord.
Reflect
How many of us have not faced trials? Do we have the most growth from happy times or when we are facing troubles? Some people seem to learn only through the mistakes they have made. It is impossible to get through life without making mistakes. This is how a lot of us learn what does and does not work. The trick is not to keep making the same mistake over and over again. How much better would our lives be if we prayed before we got in trouble? How much better would our lives be if we followed the teachings of the Bible? When we do make mistakes, God forgives us and shows mercy. “God gives generously without finding fault.” Isn’t that a comforting promise from God? We ask God for wisdom; we need to have the faith that God hears us and does answer us. There are many ways God can answer us, through an idea, an intuition, a Bible passage, or a word from a friend. These are just a few ways God can speak to us. Our doubts can cause us to question if something is truly from God. A wise man once told me that you could tell it is from God if it is something you would not have thought of on your own.
Pray
Dear God, Help me when I doubt you. Please make the way clear. I am depending on your wisdom and grace. Amen.
Go with God.
