The summer of 2020 is looking to be quite different for summer programming for families and churches. The Discipleship Ministry Team is creating an opportunity for children and their families to enjoy the challenge of learning some scripture while they are spending more time at home this summer. I AM a Cumberland Kid Summer Challenge will begin on Friday, July 3, with a video uploaded to the Discipleship Ministry Facebook Page and on www.cpcmc.org Please invite the children of your church to watch the video and download the weekly challenge instructions that and have several suggestions of activities to do that are related to the weekly scripture. The weekly video will be available for several weeks, so they can choose to watch and participate based on their schedule. “Challenges” are fun activities that will “challenge” them to think more about what Jesus meant by the “I am” statements he made about himself.
Here’s what to expect:
- Four sessions based on four “I am” statements of Jesus.
- To participate, a child/family will watch the weekly video and download the Weekly Challenge Instructions.
- Weekly Challenge Activities range from science experiments to craft projects and backyard games. Some challenges are for children to do independently and others are to be done together with family or a few friends. The activities are suggested with easy to find supplies.
- Each child/family can decide when to watch the video and which challenges they want to do that week.
