Sarah Ann Thomas was born on April 13, 1931. She died peacefully on April 2, 2024. She was preceded in death by: her parents, Wiley and Margaret Thompson, her brothers Farley Thompson, and Jack Thompson, her daughter, Mary Drake and her son-in-law, George Drake. She is survived by her husband, Don. H Thomas; her son, Lynn (Nona) Thomas, her six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Ann graduated from Colbert County High School in 1949. She earned her B.S. from Bethel College in 1953 in Elementary Education. And she received a M.A. in special ed. from the University of North Alabama in 1973. For many years, she taught education in various elementary schools.
Ann was a lifelong Cumberland Presbyterian, and faithful Cumberland Presbyterian pastor’s wife, serving alongside her husband in various ministries. She enjoyed putting together floral arrangements, making baked goods, and gardening.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be on April 7th (Sunday) at 3 PM at the Rocky Ridge Cumberland Presbyterian Church (Birmingham, AL). Visitation with family will be from 2 to 3 PM at the Rocky Ridge Church. The graveside service will be at the Mt. Pleasant Cumberland Presbyterian Church outside of Muscle Shoals, Alabama, on Monday, April 8th, at 3 PM.
