October 2, 2025, Murfreesboro Presbytery met at Rocky Glade Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Eagleville, Tennessee, with 36 ministers and 27 elders in attendance. Rev. Christian Smith served as moderator and Rev. Greg Bowen as vice moderator. The presbytery reelected Rev. Dr. Michael Clark to a three-year term as presbyterial stated clerk and elected Rev. Kenny Butcher treasurer. It also formed a presbytery council—comprising the chairs of presbytery committees, the vice moderator, the moderator, and the stated clerk—to serve as a committee of presbytery.
Presbytery approved seeking tax-exempt status and adopted the proposed constitutional amendments. It received Rick Bond (Algood CPC) as a candidate for the ministry and authorized him to attend the Program of Alternate Studies; Licentiate Araceli Ramirez was dropped from the roll. Presbytery approved the licensure of Leigh Ann Morgan at fall presbytery.
Regarding congregations and mission, presbytery dissolved the pastoral relationship between Rev. Trey Suey and Commerce CPC and appointed Rev. Andy Rogers moderator of that session. It approved the Church Growth Plan from Liberty CPC and authorized disbursement of up to $20,000 over the next sixteen months. Presbytery terminated the effort to begin a multicultural mission in the Murfreesboro area. It authorized the Board of Missions and Presbytery Trustees to proceed—working with the session and minister in charge—with the process of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Murfreesboro, joining “another ecclesiastical body.”
In property and finance matters, with the demise of the White Hall Bible Church, the former White Hall Cumberland Presbyterian Church property reverted to presbytery and has been sold. Presbytery also approved up to $150,000 to establish a new home for the caretaker of Crystal Springs Camp.
