DMT Endowments

Giving to the various DMT endowments already established. Endowments are gifts given that remain into the future while the interest off of them is used to fund ministries. Establishing a DMT endowment. If you would like to honor or memorialize someone who had given their lives to Christian education in your life, your church, your presbytery, the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, or a Christian education ecumenical setting.

The following named endowments are examples of the ways people have left a legacy long after they have gone from this world. You might like to memorialize someone who has been a great Christian disciple in your life, a family member who was a great nurturer or a friend who has taught Sunday school all their lives.

Adult

Louise Adams Heathcock Memorial Endowment―established in 1981 by Fenner Heathcock in memory of his wife in support of the development of adult resources.

Camping

Carl Cook Outdoor Ministry Endowment―established in 2005 by the Fellowship (Baxter) CPC for Clergy Appreciation to support denominational camping ministries.

Terence R. McCain. Sr. Endowment for Outdoor Ministry―established in 2010 by the youth of North Central Synod, to provide income to support outdoor ministry programs of the Ministry Council of the CPC.

General Christian Education

Paul Allen Endowment for Christian Education―established in 1996 by Hester Morrow Allen in thanksgiving for the life of her husband, in support of the ongoing program of Christian education in the denomination.

Grace Johnson Beasley Memorial Endowment―established in 1998 through gift annuities from Ms. Beasley and Ms. Marguerite Richards to support the ongoing program of
Christian education in the denomination.

Bennet and Mildred Brown Endowment―established in 2005 to support general Christian education, set up as part of their wills.

Christian Education Mid-Century Endowment―established and designated for the support of Christian Education ministries.

Christian Education Season Endowment―established in 1983 from the initial offerings from CP congregations given during CE Season in support of the ongoing program of
Christian education in the denomination.

Lavenia Campbell Cole Annuity―established in 1998 through gift annuities from Ms. Cole which were designated to support the ongoing program of Christian education in the denomination.

Jack W. Ferguson, Jr. Endowment for Christian Education―established in 2004 in honor of Jack and in support of general Christian Education ministries.

Ira and Rae Galloway for Christian Education Endowment―established in 1994 by Hugh Galloway and Ethel G. Sturgeon in memory of their parents to support Christian education in the denomination.

Jean Garrett Endowment―established in 2007 by her family on Jean’s birthday for support of general Christian education.

Give for Good Endowment for Christian Education―established in 2004 with in-kind gifts to support general Christian education.

H. Harold Davis Endowment―established in 1980 by the Board of Christian Education in support of the ongoing program of Christian education and in appreciation for the life and witness of Harold Davis who was executive director of the BCE.

Into the Nineties for BCE Endowment―established in 1986 with gifts from the Capital Gifts campaign of the denomination to support the ongoing program of Christian education.

Gale Keown Endowment―established in 2003 by the Clark’s Grove Cumberland Presbyterian Church in honor and appreciation of the Reverend Gale Keown’s 32-year ministry and in recognition of his retirement.

Earl King Memorial Endowment―established in 1976 by Anna Faye King in memory of her husband, earnings from this fund are to be used for Christian education in the Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Virginia Malcom Endowment―established in 1973 by Miss Malcom who was on the staff of the Board of Christian Education. Earnings from this fund provide support for Christian education in the denomination.

Wesley and Jackie Mattonen Endowment―established in 1985 by the Mattonens, to support the ongoing program of Christian education in the denomination.

David and Mary McGregor Endowment for Christian Education―established in 2004 in support of general Christian Education ministry.

James D. McGuire Endowment for Christian Education―established in 2003 by his wife, Maribeth Smith McGuire, and their children, Kathleen McGuire Cheatham, and John Timothy McGuire, in recognition of Jim’s commitment and devotion to ministry, and to provide financial support for general Christian Education programs.

Morris and Ruth Pepper Endowment―established in 1980 by various contributions in honor and appreciation of the Peppers’s ministry in the CP denomination. Earnings support ongoing Christian education ministries.

Claudette Hamby Pickle Endowment―established in 1999 by the Board of Christian Education in honor of her 25 years of service in support of the ongoing program of Christian education.

Dr. and Mrs. E. K. Reagin Endowment―established in 1977 in support of the ongoing program of Christian education in the denomination.

John W. Speer Endowment―established in 1980 by East Tennessee Presbytery in honor of John Speer, who was their retiring clerk, in support of the ongoing program of Christian education.

Cornelia Swain Endowment―established in 2002 by friends and colleagues of Cornelia in appreciation of her years of service to the Board and in honor of her retirement. This fund supports ongoing Christian education in the denomination.

Irvin and Annie Mary Swain Endowment―established in 1994 by Anne S. Odom and Cornelia Swain in gratitude for their parents in support of the ongoing program of Christian education in the CPC.

Jake Tyler Children’s Ministry Endowment―established in 2007 in memory of the grandson of Christine D. Tyler, administrative assistant for the Board of Christian Education.

Frank and Linda Ward Endowment―established in 1997 through contributions given by Frank and Linda Ward to support the ongoing program of Christian education in the denomination.

William Warren Endowment for Christian Education―established in 2004 by the CP Church of Germantown to support general Christian Education programs.

Leader Development

Jill Davis Carr Leadership Endowment―established in 2006 to support leader development at the denominational level.

Consultant Training Endowment―established in 1976 with gifts from local, presbyterial, and synodic CPW organizations, to underwrite expenses of the annual Consultant Training Event.

Don and Jane Hubbard Endowment for Christian Education―established in 2005 to support leader development in pursuit of Touch the Future goals.

Jodi Hearn Rush Endowment for Christian Education―established in 2003 by her husband, Kip J. Rush, their children Madison, and Devin Rush, along with Jodi’s parents, Joe, and Linda Hearn, in celebration of Jodi’s ministry and in support of ongoing leader development across the denomination.

Publishing

Bill and Hazel Phalan Endowment―established in 1989 in recognition and appreciation for the service of the Phalans to the CP Church, to be used to publish books and other materials.

Publishing House Endowment―established in 1996, after the closing of Frontier Press, one third of the income from the corpus of the Publishing House Endowment came to the Board of Christian Education to provide income for publications in C. P. Theology.

Youth/Young Adults

C. P. Youth Conference Endowment―established in 1977 by the youth of North Central Synod, to assure that CPYC would be continued. Earnings from this endowment support
CPYC.

John Gilbert Horsley Endowment for Denominational Leadership by Youth―established in 2004 to support leadership by youth at the denominational level through the Youth Ministry Planning Council in appreciation for the opportunity to gain experience and serve on YMPC.

Howell G. and Martha Jo Mims Cumberland Presbyterian Youth Conference (CPYC) Endowment―established in 2003 by the Mims in support of scholarships for multi- cultural participation in Cumberland Presbyterian Youth Conference.

William “Rusty” Rustenhaven III Christian Education Endowment for Youth Ministry―established in 2004 by the Marshall CP Church to support Christian Education programs related to youth ministry.

Clark Williamson Memorial Endowment―established in 1952 to provide funds for a memorial chapel on the permanent site of the Young People’s General Assembly. When plans for development of a permanent site were abandoned, earnings from this fund were designated for the support of young people’s work.

Helen Wiman Memorial Endowment―established in 1954 and designated for support of the annual Cumberland Presbyterian Youth Conference.

Young Adult Ministry Fund―established in 2001 by the Planning Committee for the first Young Adult Conference to be used for ministry with young adults. In addition, the CPW Special Projects Subcommittee selected this endowment as one of the 2001-2002 projects.
