Youth Ministry Planning Council

The YMPC is made up of 10 to 12 youth along with up to 2 adult members from the CPC & CPCA that will help plan events, provide leadership, and advocate for all youth in the CPC & CPCA. The coordinator of youth and young adult ministries will work alongside a selected group of adults to help identify youth and adults for YMPC. An application to be considered for YMPC will be required.

YMPC Responsibilities and Requirements

Responsibilities

To help plan the theme and activities for the Cumberland Presbyterian Youth Conference (CPYC).
To discuss issues that youth face and to offer leadership and give voice to those within the denominations.
To promote, attend, and share with their churches, presbyteries, synods, ministry council and general assembly denominational events and activities.

Requirements

Active participation in CPC/CPCA church and/or CPC/CPCA presbyterial events and activities (camps, retreats, missions, etc).
Youth must be a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior in High School. Adults must be at least 25 years old.
Attend 2 planning meetings a year (February and September).
Attend and provide leadership at the Cumberland Presbyterian Youth Conference
Youth may serve as Ministry Council Advisory Delegates (senior year in high school).

Meetings

February 2024

The YMPC will gather most years Friday to Sunday during the 3^rd week of February. At that meeting they will continue plans for CPYC as well as work on Ministry Council Meeting Presentation, Youth Leadership Summit, along with other considerations that may be needed during that time.

September 2024

The YMPC will gather most years Saturday to Tuesday during the 3^rd week of September. At that meeting they will review CPYC and move towards a theme and planning for the following year. They may also work on events such as CPYC One Day Events, YEC, Mission Trips/Immersion Experiences, Ministry Council Meeting, Middle School Events, GA YAD Activities, etc. The location will be determined but will be organized by one of the synod coordinators.
