Service for the Lord's Day, The (Supplemental Liturgical Resource 1)
The Service for the Lord's Day describes the general format, or ordering, of worship in the Reformed tradition. This resource helps worship leaders be intentional about every aspect of the worship service. Included are basic structure of the service, opening prayers, prayers of confession, words to introduce Scripture readings, creeds, offering invitations, and lots of options for the Great Thanksgiving prayed before communion.
The Supplemental Liturgical Resource (SLT) series includes liturgies that were used on a trial basis in preparation for the development of the Book of Common Worship, developed by the Presbyterian Church (USA) and the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Though superseded by the Book of Common Worship, SLR resources remain valuable, both for the variety of liturgical texts they contain and for the commentary on the text, which contains rich historical, theological, and practical background.
