Jesus According to Paul
Jesus According to Paul by Victor Furnish is part of the Understanding Jesus Today series by Cambridge University Press, but it can be read on its own.
As the oldest surviving Christian writings, Paul's letters are the earliest evidence of what Jesus' first followers believed and said about him. This book addresses whether or not Paul personally knew Jesus, where Paul used Jesus' teachings, how much authority did Paul give those teachings, and more. Of particular interest to readers today is how much emphasis Paul placed on Jesus' death and resurrection, and why he did so. Also included is a discussion of epistles written in the Pauline tradition which either perpetuated or altered Pal's teachings about Jesus.
Includes: suggested readings, discussion questions, index of subjects and names, index Bible passages.
