Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
A voluntary, work-based program that offers free and confidential assessments, short-term counseling, and referral services to ministers who have personal and/or ministry-related problems. EAPs address a broad and complex body of issues affecting mental and emotional well-being, such as family problems, workplace stress, grief, anxiety and depression, alcohol and substance abuse.
Enrollment is by PRESBYTERIES, which ensure confidentiality. The presbytery enrolls all the ministers and probationers under their care (including honorably retired ministers). When a minister seeks care, that minister will call an 800 number to find a local provider, then make their own appointment with that provider. Enrolled (US) presbyteries in 2021 are Arkansas, Choctaw, Columbia, Covenant, Cumberland, del Cristo, East Tennessee, Grace, Hope, Missouri, Murfreesboro, Nashville, North Central, Red River, Robert Donnell, Tennessee/Georgia, and West Tennessee.
