Curtis W. Hines, 97, a lifelong Cumberland Presbyterian, died on August 6, 2019. He had been a elder at Hopewell Cumberland Presbyterian Church (West Tennessee Presbytery) near Walnut in Benton County, Mississippi, for over 65 years. The church was founded by his ancestors. “Curtis Hines became Benton County’s Chancery Clerk in 1964. He loved his job; and his campaign was enthusiastic and unorthodox! He went down every dirt road and knocked at every door, sometimes porch sitting, shelling peas, hoeing the garden or being a dinner guest. On election years, he gave out his signature emery boards and matches. Eric A. Westin, 75, of Baxter, Tennessee, died Monday, Aug. 5, 2019. He was a member of First Cumberland Presbyterian Church (Cookeville, Tennessee). Eric’s one-time summer job, driving the Monorail at Disneyland – Anaheim, led to a long career with Disney, marrying Snow White, and culminating as a Walt Disney Imagineer and Senior Vice President with several outside projects along the way. Eric’s creative design and development skills were always sought after as he was hired by filmmaker, George Lucas, to create and develop the innovative Skywalker Ranch located in Northern California.
