Mexico – Mexico Cumberland Presbyterian Council of Churches and explanation about a counterfeit group in Mexico
The Mexico Council of Cumberland Presbyterian Pastors and Churches consists of:
Casa de Alfarero (Chalco, Mexico – outside Mexico City), Restaracion de Vida (Mexico City), Mission Iztapalapa (Mexico City)
The Mexico Cumberland Presbyterian Council of Churches is the only Cumberland Presbyterian (CP) entity in Mexico that our denomination recognizes. There is a small family group of Mexican nationals that uses the Cumberland Presbyterian name in the Mexico/USA border area. They are not affiliated with the CP church. The CP Council of churches, the official CP Church in Mexico, consists of Cumberland Presbyterian churches and missions and Cumberland Presbyterian pastors and elders and is based in Mexico City. The Council is under the care and oversight of the General Assembly’s mission agency. We are aware that this independent family group in the border area has reached out to Cumberland Presbyterians in the U.S. for support. Any support, assistance, work groups, etc., wishing to help with our work in Mexico need to carefully coordinate their efforts through the MMT, which is working with the Mexico Cumberland Presbyterian Council of Churches.
