Slow your breathing and become aware of the taking in and letting out of your breath. Focus on putting things aside so you will be open to what God is saying to you today.
1 Kings 14: 1-18
No matter how many times we try it, no matter how hard we try, we cannot hide from God. God knows us. God knows what we are thinking, and yes, God knows what we do, even if others do not. Even though Jeroboam’s wife disguised herself hoping that God’s prophet Ahijah would not recognize her. But God was already a step ahead and Ahijah knew not only who she was, but also the reason she was coming to see him.
Things had begun so promisingly for Jeroboam and his family. But they couldn’t hide from God. God knew they had turned away and turned their backs on God. They had not followed God’s commands. They had not followed God with all their hearts. They did evil and worshipped idols. I’m not sure how much was done in secret and how much was known by the people of Israel, but that didn’t matter. God knew.
We cannot hide our thoughts, actions, or our hearts from God. God knows us because God created us.
Creator God, we try to live for ourselves, doing the things we want with no regard to your commands. Forgive us for the times when we have tried to hide our shortcomings from you. Help us to follow you with all of our hearts. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
Go with God!
