Psalm 15 New Revised Standard Version (NRSV)

A Psalm of David.

O Lord, who may abide in your tent?
Who may dwell on your holy hill?

Those who walk blamelessly, and do what is right,
and speak the truth from their heart;

who do not slander with their tongue,
and do no evil to their friends,
nor take up a reproach against their neighbors;

in whose eyes the wicked are despised,
but who honor those who fear the Lord;
who stand by their oath even to their hurt;

who do not lend money at interest,
and do not take a bribe against the innocent.
Those who do these things shall never be moved.

Reflect

Recently a childhood Sunday School chorus has been continually playing in my mind. Even though I haven’t thought of it for years, something sparked the memory.

Be careful little eyes what you see, Be careful little eyes what you see, for our Father up above is looking down in love, so be careful little eyes what you see.

In the version I learned, it continued to ears and what you hear; mouth and what you say; hands and what you do; feet and where you go. The older I have become, the more aware I am of the truth in these simple words. Many people today complain of the lack of civility in our world. My thought is that the world is just being what the world is, fallen. However, God calls us as His children, to be in the world, but not of the world. Ephesians 5:1 reminds us of how we can navigate the world we live in without letting it overcome us.

“Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children….”
God calls us to live holy, righteous lives that are pleasing to Him. Are the things that flow out of our daily lives a manifestation of God’s holy presence in us? As we meditate on today’s scripture, Psalms 15, let each reflect on where our eyes, ears, mouth, hands and feet have led us lately.

Pray

Dear Lord, Heavenly Father, Almighty God, I come with thankfulness and praise for the love, mercy and grace You shower on me. Lord, may the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to you. Draw me closer to You and fill me up to overflowing so that my life glorifies You and is a witness of Your great love. In Jesus name, Amen

Go with God!
