Don Masters, 88, an elder at Brush Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church (Nashville Presbytery), died of a heart attack February 15, 2021. Don was a faithful member of Brush Hill Cumberland Presbyterian church for over 60 years where he served in a number of ways. Variously, Don was an elder, a member of the building committee, and a member of the van maintenance team. Music was always an important part of Don’s life. He enjoyed singing in the church choir, playing in their hand-bell choir, and being a guitarist in The Inglewood Old Time String Band. Don enjoyed serving alongside his wife, Mary Ann Simpson Masters, in ministries such as Room in the Inn, East Nashville Cooperative Ministry, and in many other ways in the church. He could also be seen washing dishes, hanging Christmas decorations, enjoying time with his Sunday School class, or driving the senior group on trip in the church bus.
Don was born July 16, 1932, in Macon County, Tennessee, graduated from Trousdale County High School and Middle Tennessee State University, and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean war. He retired from the State of Tennessee as a community urban planner after 33 years of service.
