He was a member of Benton Cumberland Presbyterian Church (Covenant Presbytery) where he served as an elder and Sunday school superintendent. He previously served Wingo, Kentucky, Old Cumberland Presbyterian Church (unaffiliated) as an elder, youth group director, and Sunday school teacher.
