The Discipleship Ministry Team, in conjunction with the Historical Foundation, is planning a day at Montgomery Bell State Park where Cumberland Presbyterians from throughout the denomination can gather for worship and fellowship as well as to revisit the history of the denomination. We will have a living history exhibit and presentation of the denomination’s beginnings as well as interpreters to answer questions and give demonstrations about life in the early 1800s. After worship in the chapel, everyone is invited to eat lunch (Dutch treat) at the park’s restaurant, which is housed in the inn. After lunch people are welcome to stay and visit with one another or enjoy other parts of the park.
If you want to extend your trip to include more than one day, the option of visiting Bethel University as well as Memphis Theological Seminary and the denominational center is also available.
When: October 16 (17-18 for visits to institutions) at 10 a.m.
Cost: Cost will depend on your plans. If you are spending the night, the cost will obviously be more than if making a day trip. Lunch at the inn is in the $10 range, depending on choice of entrée.
